“You Had Everything (2020)”

“You Had Everything (2020)” – July 2020

The story of a boy and disappointment. Re-recorded and remastered!

“You Had Everything,” the final song in our “Songs For The Quarantimes” series, is actually a remaster of our third-ever song. A song about the perils of getting takeout, it seemed appropriate to revive it given the restrictions on dining in restaurants. Ben re-recorded the guitars and vocals, Andrew intensified the synth lead, and together we applied all the new production knowledge we learned in the two years since the original recording. This hard rocker will be much harder to forget than the fries from your delivery order!

Lyrics:

Met you online, thought you’d smell nice
You kept me waiting, I was right on time
It’s been a while since I’ve done this
I’m just glad that you finally called
We parted ways under the streetlight
But something just didn’t feel right

I thought you had everything
But good things always die
I watched you drive a way
But you forgot my fries

Asked you to come over to my place
You said you’d be here in thirty or less
I could feel my stomach aching
Netflix open, I was ready to chill
Through the tears I took my first bite
Food was warm but didn’t taste right

I thought you had everything
But good things always die
I watched you drive a way
But you forgot my fries

It’s normally me that screws things up
On you I thought I could depend
Now I’m alone, I’m broke, and I’m hungry
I’ll never get delivery again

I thought you had everything
But good things always die
I watched you drive a way
But you forgot my fries
